Anatomy of a Simplicity UTXO. A high-level overview of how such UTXOs get created and spent. In a nutshell, it's just a fancy Taproot.
At @OPNEXT2026, our Director @n1ckler explained how a soft fork could add post-quantum security to Bitcoin's Taproot tree. Outputs commit to both Schnorr and PQ keys. Schnorr signatures stay cheap. The PQ path sits dormant until a cryptographically relevant quantum computer emerges.

Announcing the BitLight White Paper BitLight: An Integrated Layer 1 and Layer 2 Architecture for Non-Custodial Bitcoin Operations BitLight unifies RGBโ€™s clientโ€‘side validated assets with Lightning Network payments in a single, nonโ€‘custodial architecture. We combine Taprootโ€‘based L1 primitives with L2 execution and cleanly separate signing from node operations, reducing risk and operational overhead while preserving Bitcoinโ€™s security. On 25 September 2011, developer Amir Taaki suggested on the Bitcoin development mailing list that Bitcoinโ€™s formal change documents should be called Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIPs). The BIP process is the public specification system used to propose, discuss, and document changes to Bitcoin. Individual BIPs are numbered papers covering protocol rules, peer-to-peer behavior, wallet standards, and process conventions. Later upgrades such as Segregated Witness and Taproot were specified through this system. Taakiโ€™s idea is still used 15 years later. The documents live in an open repository, are debated in public, and are adopted only if implementations and the network follow them. The mailing-list note did not create Bitcoinโ€™s governance. It named one of the formats through which that governance is written down.
