The Cat Who Survived Three Sinkings
Unsinkable Sam began as the mascot of the German battleship Bismarck, and after she sank in 1941 he was fished from the Atlantic, adopted by the destroyer HMS Cossack — which was then torpedoed — and finally served on HMS Ark Royal, which was torpedoed too.
He survived all three sinkings and retired to a sailors' home in Belfast.
