You may know Jesus, but does He know you? Jesus states that on Judgment Day, many will remind Him of the prophecies, miracles, and demons they cast out in His name. Despite these claims of mighty works, He will reply: "I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness". These individuals believed they were saved because of their actions and titles. It serves as a harsh reminder that performing religious "works" without a genuine, transformative relationship with Jesus is meaningless. Doing the Will of the Father: The focus is shifted from lip service to obedience. Jesus contrasts those who say the words with those who live out the moral and spiritual will of God. Doing the Will of the Father, is not baptism or attending Mass - it’s believing in He who He has sent - His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus is not pointing to religious rituals as the decisive factor. He contrasts empty profession with genuine faith that produces a transformed life. The “will of the Father” is first and foremost trusting in Jesus - the Son He sent. Religious works without a real relationship with Christ are indeed meaningless (where people claim miracles and works but are told “I never knew you”). Making Jesus Lord of your life is not a one-time ritual or religious checklist - it’s a genuine heart surrender that flows from believing in Him. Making Jesus Lord is not earning salvation - it’s the natural response to the One who saved you by grace through faith. You don’t have to be perfect; you just need to keep saying “Yes, Lord” as He leads you. Invite Him into every area of your life. Read His Word (the Bible) and obey what you learn and live in a way that honors Him. This reinforces the heart of the gospel - salvation comes through believing in Jesus Christ - not through sacraments or outward religion. Obedience flows from that relationship, but it never replaces simple, saving faith in Him. You may know Jesus, but does He know you?
