ALERT: Car launched into the Hudson River after a man was allegedly trying to strangle his sister to death. Ahmed Hemedan was in the car with his sister in Albany, New York, when he allegedly started strangling her. She then drove her car into the Corning Preserve Boat Launch, and allegedly Hemedan pulled her out of the car and tried to drown her. A good Samaritan saw this happening, rescued her from the water, and gave her CPR until police arrived. She was treated by emergency medical providers before being transferred to Albany Medical Center in stable condition. Hemedan is being held without bond after pleading not guilty to attempted murder.

ALERT: College campus r*pist sentenced to life in prison after assaulting 6 women during his time at infamous party school. Arian Eteghaei, 24, has been charged with s*xually assaulting multiple women while attending the University of Santa Barbara. Jurors found Eteghaei guilty of forcible r*pe, forcible s*xual penetration, and misdemeanor domestic violence in January after a long trial. One of the witnesses was Eteghaei’s ex-girlfriend, who said he r*ped and assaulted her after a house party at his Isla Vista Apartment. Eteghaei was caught on camera trying to flee the police and was tackled to the ground after being found guilty. Of the 6 victims, 5 of the women were s*xually assaulted, and one was the victim of battery. Judge Von Deroian sentenced Eteghaei to 364 days in county jail, followed by 30 years to life in prison.

ALERT: Heirlooms were found in a mountain of trash after a woman accidentally threw them out. A woman immediately noticed that the pair of priceless rings she couldn't find had ended up in her apartment complex's dumpster in Brooklyn. She met sanitation workers when they came to pick up the trash cans and explained her situation. City sanitation workers then coordinated the truck to dump the trash at a designated area and search for the lost rings. “Every couple of months, a New Yorker will throw away something that is important to them… we set up what is called a lost valuables search, where in most cases, the resident and one very close friend get 90 minutes to go through the trash together.” Sanitation workers sifted through the trash and located both rings, which were returned to their owner.

ALERT: Florida teen victim who was robbed at gunpoint arrested after police find deleted texts showing he was trying to buy a firearm while on probation. Last month, a 16-year-old contacted the Volusia County Sheriff's Office after he met up with a 15-year-old acquaintance, Izrell Perez, and was robbed of cash at gunpoint. The driver of the car, 18-year-old Clayton Hencken, and Perez were arrested for robbery with a firearm. The 16-year-old victim, however, was also arrested after detectives found he had deleted text messages to hide that he was trying to purchase a firearm from Perez and Hencken. The father of the victim was also arrested while picking up his son from the Family Resource Center for having an open warrant.

ALERT: Semi-truck smashes into an overpass, causing it to explode with debris and slide into a car parked along the side of the highway. The footage was recorded by a AAA Carting truck, and the truck can be seen flipping on its side after being too tall for the clearance. Pernell Harris, the truck driver from South Carolina, has been ticketed for having a vehicle that exceeded the maximum height of 13 feet 6 inches. Harris and the driver of the Toyota it slid into on the side of the highway both reported having no injuries.

ALERT: Gunman hit by a car trying to escape a shootout that killed a man and injured 2 bystanders. The Seattle Police Department was on a nightline emphasis patrol in the Capitol Hill neighborhood when they heard gunshots around 11:33 PM. SPD says the group approached a 29-year-old man walking alone and began shooting at him, and he returned fire. Police found over 50 bullet casings, a man suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the leg, and a woman who was shot in the ankle. The Seattle Police Department's Gun Violence Reduction Unit is looking to determine what led to the shooting and is trying to identify the suspects.

ALERT: American Airlines flight has to make an emergency landing after flames and smoke shoot from an engine. A Boeing 737 was taking off from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to Charlotte, North Carolina, with 172 passengers and 9 crew members. Shortly after takeoff, a pilot says, “Mayday, mayday, mayday. We’ve got an engine problem here.” It is believed to be caused by a bird strike, as multiple bird remains were found along the runway.
