AI inference startup Fal raised $1.3B at a $16B valuation, doubling its valuation since April.
The round was led by Bessemer, with Nvidia among the investors.
Fal provides infrastructure for developers to run image, video, and audio AI models, and reportedly reached $800M in annualized revenue earlier this year.
The funding comes as demand for AI inference continues to grow.
CEO Burkay Gur said the company had to rate-limit customers over the summer because it couldn't keep up with demand.
Fal plans to use the new capital to expand its computing capacity and team.
AI BOOM: $10 TRILLION SPENDING WAVE RAISES FINANCIAL RISKS
Former New York Fed President Bill Dudley warns that AI infrastructure investment could exceed $10 trillion, potentially creating massive overcapacity.
Dudley estimates that only 2–3 of today's 7–8 aspiring AI hyperscalers may ultimately dominate the market.
AI infrastructure could require over $3 trillion in annual revenue to justify its investment costs.
Opaque private-credit financing, off-balance-sheet obligations and Nvidia's chip-value guarantees add further risks.
