During Typhoon Bavi, a Ferris wheel in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, was caught on video spinning its top cabins in full 360s. The operator confirmed the ride had been shut down and secured since July 10 — and those spins? Actually by design. The cabins are hinge-connected to the main structure so they rotate freely in extreme winds to release pressure and stay stable.
As Typhoon Bavi approaches the Zhejiang coast, Shanghai has moved into full typhoon-prevention mode. On July 11, Spring Airlines was seen securing parked aircraft and boarding stairs at both Pudong and Hongqiao airports.
Due to torrential rainfall brought by Typhoon Bavi, the navigation beacon "Shenyang Lighthouse" on the Hunhe River in Liaoning drifted downstream, coming into contact with power lines during its drift.
It was later salvaged.
