Tonight, Jews all over the world put everything down. Yom Kippur is the one day of the year when the noise stops. No work. No food. No distractions. Just a full and honest accounting of who we were this past year and who we intend to be in the next one. What I love most about this day is what it asks of us. Not to be perfect, but to be honest. To repair what we broke. To forgive what was done to us. To begin again. My family arrived in Canada in 1956 with almost nothing. Every year on this day I think about them, and about how much of what I have was built on their courage. To everyone fasting tonight and tomorrow, an easy and meaningful fast. G'mar chatima tova.

This afternoon, I joined Archbishop Elpidophoros and faith leaders at St. Nicholas National Shrine to mark the 25 years since the horrific terror attacks of 9/11 and reflect on the resilience of our city. St. Nicholas was the only house of worship destroyed on September 11. Its rebuilding reflects the spirit that carried New Yorkers through the days, months and years in the wake of the attack: a belief in each other, the hope of recovery, and a determination to begin again. Today, we stand on hallowed ground. We remember those we lost, who carried our city forward. And we carry that shared spirit with us as we build a city worthy of all those who call it home.

i left Cursor. after 10 years inside the tech bubble in San Francisco, Cursor felt like the sharpest version of that world – fast, intense, ambitious, full of people trying to pull the future closer. i’m leaving with gratitude, but also with the feeling that i need a different rhythm. slower time. different weather. more culture, aliveness, and humans in the everyday. Asia feels like the right place to begin again. to stay grounded, experience life more fully, and build freely. i’ll share what i find along the way!
