Chainlink’s LINK token can pay and give instructions in one move
Most Ethereum tokens follow ERC-20, the basic rulebook for sending and holding tokens.
@chainlink’s $LINK goes a step further. It follows ERC-677, which builds on ERC-20 and lets a token transfer carry extra data.
That data powers a feature called transferAndCall. In a single transaction, LINK can move to another smart contract and tell that contract what to do next.
Chainlink’s original request model used this to pay an oracle and send the request in one step. That one-oracle setup is now retired, but the feature still works on every LINK transfer.
LINK even has its own tiny unit, like Ether’s wei. One LINK equals a billion billion Juels (10^18).
