Chevron is seeking a massive tax break in Texas for a new gas-fired power plant would exclusively serve a Microsoft data center. The plant could qualify for more than $227 million in tax breaks over 10 years, and the power from the plant wouldn't go to homes or local businesses at all. As Mother Jones reported in collaboration with Wired, the proposed plant would emit more planet-heating pollution each year than the entire country of Jamaica.
