Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of the Yakuza series, recently appeared in a new Famitsu magazine article and was referred to simply as a game creator with no mention of Nagoshi Studio.
This comes after reports that NetEase had stopped funding the studio. The project reportedly needed a lot more cash to get finished.
The team was said to be looking for another $44 million to keep development going.
Since then, the studio has gone quiet. It has stopped posting online, its website has gone offline, and there is still no word on what is happening with Gang of Dragon.
Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Veronica will make some changes to its story to better fit the overall Resident Evil timeline.
Speaking to Famitsu, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said the remake will keep the main events of the original game, but some scenes and story details will be updated to connect better with the modern Resident Evil remakes.
Capcom also said that Veronica is an important part of the series and its place in the timeline will not change. The game still takes place three months after Resident Evil 2.
Several developers from Nagoshi Studio have reportedly left the company and joined other studios, including Capcom and LightSpeed Japan Studio. The information comes from updates to their public profiles.
These departures follow earlier reports that NetEase stopped funding Nagoshi Studio and its first game, Gang of Dragon. Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of Yakuza and founder of the studio, recently appeared in a Famitsu interview without any company name attached
Nagoshi Studio was founded in 2021 with NetEase support and included many former Sega developers.
