BREAKING: The S&P GSCI Agriculture Index has now risen for 11 consecutive trading sessions, matching a similar streak last seen in 1994. The gauge tracks a broad basket of agricultural commodities, including wheat, corn, soybeans, sugar, coffee, cotton, cocoa and livestock. Over this span, the index has surged +13.4%, to its highest level since July 2023. Over the last 125 years, only 5 periods have seen the index rise for more than 11 consecutive sessions, most recently in the 1930s. Meanwhile, wheat prices have soared +22.9% so far in August, to $7.84 per bushel, their highest since February 2023. Food inflation pressures are intensifying.
