Kadokawa said that its leaders will not remove boss Takeshi Natsuno, despite activist shareholders wanting to oust him at a major meeting on June 24, 2026.
These activist shareholders, who own the largest stake in the company, say it has major management problems such as producing too many low-quality products and losses from a 2024 cyber attack.
Company leaders argue it is wrong to remove Natsuno because he has driven growth since 2021 boosting sales in books, anime, and games, and helped the company respond quickly to the 2024 cyber attack
On the same day, Kadokawa shared a new plan for 2026 to 2031 that aims for strong sales and profits by 2031, and leaders believe Natsuno must stay to execute it.
FromSoftware’s new game The Duskbloods will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026 with a simultaneous worldwide release.
This was confirmed in parent company KADOKAWA’s latest financial report.
The report also notes that while the gaming division saw decreased revenue and profits, Elden Ring Nightreign has performed strongly both in Japan and international markets.
