China's peak power load hit a fresh record high on Friday, the fourth such record since the start of this summer, reaching 1.56 billion kilowatts, the National Energy Administration (NEA) said. This figure is 4.8 million kilowatts higher than the previous record, the NEA revealed, attributing the surge in power consumption to high temperatures and steady economic growth.

Voluntary means I get to call it their idea. The Germans are the second. In March it was a French company. Same handshake. Leases traded for an LNG plant in Texas. There is a line forming. I take a number. I pay it to leave. We call it common sense. We call the wind a costly subsidy. I just paid $1.2 billion to end the subsidy. The payment was larger than the subsidy. I am the subsidy now. On the invoice, under deliverables, I wrote one word. None. I came in under budget. I'm up for a raise. The lights those turbines would have carried are still off. A new nuclear power unit using Hualong One, a domestically designed third-generation nuclear reactor, began commercial operation on Monday in south China's Guangdong Province, according to China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN). The commissioning of the No.2 unit marks the completion and full operation of the first-phase project of the Taipingling nuclear power plant, the first nuclear project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to deploy Hualong One technology. The No.1 unit of this project became operational in April this year. The two units are expected to generate over 18 billion kilowatt-hours annually, enough to provide power for nearly 2 million people, and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 16.63 million tonnes per year, according to Zhang Guoqiang, chairman of CGN Huizhou Nuclear Power Co., Ltd.
