Former Armenian president Robert Kocharyan and his son Sedrak have been detained The former president was taken to the National Security Service. Early in the morning, security forces also searched the home of his other son, opposition MP Levon Kocharyan. Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee said the case is related to corruption. Kocharyan’s office called the developments another attack by the authorities. The detention came a day after a heated exchange between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Levon Kocharyan in parliament. Pashinyan threatened to strip the family of property that, according to him, was acquired illegally and should not be passed on to their children and grandchildren. Pashinyan had previously promised to return that property to the state and imprison the former president over the events of March 1, 2008.
