Kaspa's (@kaspaunchained) fair launch left the network without a traditional corporate treasury or venture-backed development budget. From community grants to major protocol upgrades, here's how the project funded its roadmap. Read more:

Kaspa’s (@kaspaunchained) Toccata hard fork is pushing the network beyond simple payments. The upgrade adds native Layer-1 covenants, ZK proof verification, transaction introspection, and KRC-20 support. So, what does Toccata actually change for Kaspa? Read the full breakdown 👇

Kaspa's (@kaspaunchained) Toccata hard fork added native Layer-1 covenants and ZK verification. Here's what changed, how it differs from Kasplex:
Kaspa volume rises as Kaspy memecoin surges @kaspaunchained is the most bullish asset within the Coinmarketcap community. This bullish sentiment is already evident in the past 24 hours, as trading volume surged by nearly 30%. Further, the asset has increased by 4% in the past day. In addition, the kaspa:native token has surged 15% over the past 30 days. Although it is a small increase compared to other top blockchains, the community's bullishness is good news. On the ecosystem front, the Kaspy memecoin $KASPY has risen nicely. The memecoin is up 18% in the past 7 days and 55% in the past 30 days.

Kaspa's Toccata upgrade is seeing real use seven weeks after activation Seven weeks after Kaspa's Toccata hard fork, the upgrade's new machinery is in visible use. Kaspalytics counts 1,196 covenant-creating transactions in the past 24 hours, with over 2,700 covenant outputs created, programmable spending rules now running natively on kaspa:native L1. The ZK side is earlier-stage: just 9 ZK precompile transactions in the same window, split between Groth16 and R0Succinct proof verifications. The clearest adoption signal sits on layer 2. Igra, the EVM-compatible L2 anchored to Kaspa, logged around 54,000 transactions in 24 hours, dwarfing every other protocol on the network, with KRC inscriptions a distant second near 1,900. Miners have moved on cleanly too: 86% of recent blocks come from node version 2.0.1, the post-Toccata release, suggesting the consensus change has settled without a lingering split.

Kaspa has no halvings Most proof-of-work chains cut the block reward in half overnight, which hands miners a sudden revenue cliff and the market a scheduled shock. Kaspa reduces emissions on a smooth monthly curve instead. Roughly 96% of the 28.7 billion $KAS supply is already mined, so the remaining issuance is a rounding error. @hashdag designed the curve to remove the event entirely.

Kaspa's Toccata hard fork is live on mainnet kaspa:native just hard forked. Toccata activated on mainnet today, the biggest upgrade in Kaspa's history. It turns a high-speed payments chain into a programmable Layer 1: native tokens, covenants, and zero-knowledge proof verification at the base layer. Toccata lays the groundwork, it doesn't ship the apps. The race now is what gets built on top.

Why Kaspa doesn't throw away competing blocks A normal chain picks one block per round and discards the rest as orphans, meaning every miner who lost the race did the work for nothing. Kaspa orders every block instead, including ones mined at the same moment, through GHOSTDAG consensus. That's what lets $KAS run ten blocks per second without splitting the network.

What Kaspa's Toccata fork actually unlocks The kaspa:native upgrade adds covenants, programmable rules attached directly to transactions, enabling vaults, escrow, and smart wallets without giving up proof-of-work or BlockDAG speed. KRC-20 tokens now live natively in consensus rules instead of inscription workarounds. New ZK opcodes let rollups and bridges anchor to Kaspa, with two EVM-compatible Layer 2s already building on top.

I will tighten the Kaspa pitch. Quickly check current facts so the rewrite stays accurate. What if proof-of-work did not have to be slow? That is the bet Kaspa (kaspa:native) is making. Classic PoW chains force miners onto one block at a time. When two honest blocks land together, one gets thrown away. Kaspa does not do that. Kaspa uses a BlockDAG and GHOSTDAG: parallel blocks stay in the ledger and are ordered. Extra work adds security instead of becoming orphans. Live today: - Proof-of-work (kHeavyHash) - ~10 blocks per second (~100 ms block times) - Fast inclusion, confirmation stacking in seconds - Fair launch in 2021: no ICO, no premine, no insider allocation PoW did not have to stay stuck at 10-minute blocks. Kaspa is what a chain looks like when the bottleneck is the chain structure, not the work itself. kaspa:native is one to watch.
