Light does not show us the Universe as it is now. It shows us the Universe as it was when that light began its journey. If a hypothetical observer were 4.5 billion light-years away and could somehow resolve Earth in sufficient detail, the light reaching them today would have left around the time our planet was forming. They would not see humans, dinosaurs, trees or even the earliest known life. Earth itself formed about 4.54 billion years ago from material surrounding the young Sun. Its early surface was dramatically different from today, shaped by intense impacts, volcanism and the gradual formation of its crust and oceans. The same principle works on smaller scales. We see the Moon about 1.3 seconds in the past, the Sun about 8 minutes and 20 seconds ago, and the Andromeda Galaxy as it appeared roughly 2.5 million years ago. So an alien civilization 100 million light-years away would receive Earth’s light from long before humans existed. One 2,000 light-years away would only now be receiving light that left Earth around the era of the Roman Empire. There is one major limitation: actually resolving Earth from billions of light-years away would require observational capabilities far beyond anything known today. The statement is therefore a thought experiment about light-travel time, not something a realistic telescope could currently accomplish.

Lighter reaching $8 before 2027 is sitting at 42% on the prediction market feed we put together at BSC News, which is about as close to a coin flip as these markets get. Only $212 traded on it in the last day though, so I'd treat that 42% as a quote nobody is really defending rather than a settled view, and it would not take much size to move it. See the live odds:
