Oasis’ “Wonderwall” is surging in global streams thanks to England’s World Cup run. ⚽️📈 The 1995 classic re-enters the Billboard Hot 100 this week at No. 27, marking its first appearance on the chart since its original run in 1996. “Wonderwall” earned 43.2 million official on-demand global streams during the July 10-16 tracking week, according to Luminate — up 194% from the 14.7 million streams it drew during the World Cup’s opening round five weeks earlier. After holding between roughly 14 million and 16 million weekly streams throughout May and early June, the song began climbing during the tournament’s group stage. Its total then surged from 19.4 million streams in the June 26-July 2 tracking week to 26.7 million from July 3-9, as England defeated Mexico in the Round of 16. Streams soared again the following week as England advanced to the semifinals. But once the tour kicked off July 4 in Cardiff, streams jumped from 7.3 million to 12.5 million in a single week — a 71% surge. And the momentum hasn’t slowed: as the band hit the U.S. leg, their catalog climbed even higher, reaching a high of 15 million streams in the latest tracking week (Aug. 29–Sept. 4) after shows at Chicago’s Soldier Field and MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. .@oasis' music catalog surged in streams in the United States last week after the duo announced their reunion. 📈 In the days before the brothers announced their reunion (Aug. 22-24), the band’s catalog averaged 814,000 U.S. streams per day, according to Luminate. After confirming their reunion on Aug. 27, their catalog averaged 3.2 million per day from Aug. 27-29, according to Luminate. That’s a nearly 300% gain. “Wonderwall” specifically saw a massive surge, gaining from 375,000 streams on Aug. 24 to 878,000 on Aug. 29.
