An RTX 5090 owner went as far as literally cut a hole in his PC to give the 16-pin power cable more room, and the connector still suffered heat damage. The idea was to avoid putting pressure or sharp bends on the cable, which can contribute to overheating. But even after making the extra space, the connector still ended up burnt. The GPU kept working, but the connector had to be replaced, reportedly costing around $90. The owner has now switched to a 1600W Seasonic PSU and added a fan aimed at the connector.
