Bernadette Spofforth was held for thirty six hours. She is a British woman. After the Southport murders she posted something that turned out to be wrong, deleted it, and was arrested at her home. Let me be fair, because I want to be. Posting something false at a moment like that is not nothing. In Japan people would be angry with her too. We would call her careless. We would not put her in a cell for a day and a half. Here is the part a Japanese person cannot fit inside his head. In the same country, in the same decade, officials sat on evidence of children being raped for sixteen years, and not one of them has been criminally prosecuted for the cover up itself. Thirty six hours for a bad post. Sixteen years of silence, and no handcuffs for the adults who chose it. I am not lecturing anyone. I am asking the people who actually live there. Does that ordering feel like your country? Or does it feel like something that was done to your country while you were being polite about it?
