selling coins in profit and then trying to rebuy lower sounds good in theory, you might actually nail it once or twice
but the issue you have is that certain coins run harder than others on certain days
if btc dumps, there will still be coins performing well
now, you might end up in a position where your coin dumps on a day where the rest of the market performs well
then you are in a situation where you dont want to buy because you assume btc dumping will bring your coin down further
however, your coin is still strong, the day btc dumps, your coin is actually up
now, what do you do? stare at the charts. get stressed. ape back in
but then the next day your coin dumps. so you quickly sell. but price action reverts. staring at charts again. stressed out even more
what's supposed to be a fun enjoyable experience quickly turns into desperate attempts to catch up on gains your hindsight trading brain doesnt stop mapping out
dont worry though, its not just you, we've all been there
how to combat all this? spot n chill baby
So, I received a text message thread from 3 unknown people. Now, I’m a Gen X’er and used to prank call on people all the time. This seems appropriate:
Group chat (3 People) — iMessage Encrypted
Today 4:50 PM
Greg Neubecker:
Hey guys! It’s Greg. Are y’all planning on meeting up somewhere tomorrow morning for BDB?
Unknown:
Hey Greg. Sarah couldn’t make it, but we generally meet at the traffic light area next to where you picked up your packet.
(map attached — H.U. Lee International Gate and Garden / Statehouse Convention Center area, circled near West Markham St & Scott St)
Greg Neubecker:
Ok sounds good thanks. Sorry to hear Sarah! Hope you’re doing okay
Me:
But Greg, shouldn’t we be going to the FBI about this? It’s highly illegal…
Greg Neubecker:
I’d have to defer to my ride leaders! 😂
Me:
I heard Sarah is a mole. So who are the ride leaders again?
Sarah:
There is a post from John Oliver about the meeting point on fb. I think it’s 6-615
And I’m not a mole!!
Me:
Mmhmm I don’t trust her Greg, she disappeared for a while…wasn’t it her suggestion to meet at the “traffic light area”?
It’s shocking that Dario, Elon, and Sam all agree today that we should slow the pace of AI.
I’m generally supportive of embedded third-party evaluators, but I have a few concerns:
1. who evaluates the evaluators? How do we make sure groups like METR remain fair, competent, and unbiased?
2. slowing AI progress can conflict with the incentives of frontier labs, especially when they’re preparing for IPOs. How do we make those incentives compatible?
3. you can only pace what you can measure and verify. What exactly are we measuring? How do you define and measure something like RSI?
The idea sounds good. The implementation seems extremely hard.
