The Department of War just put Starshield AI’s Grok for Government on GenAI dot mil, the Pentagon’s enterprise generative-AI platform. It is accredited for Controlled Unclassified Information at Impact Level 5, which means it is built for secure, consistent use across the force rather than as a one-off experiment. The platform has more than 1.7 million unique users out of the Department’s roughly 3 million military, civilian, and contractor personnel. What people will actually get is a government version of Grok with deep-thinking inference, Auto, Fast, and Expert reasoning modes, customizable workspaces, persistent projects, and reusable playbooks meant to capture institutional knowledge instead of leaving it trapped in someone’s inbox. It could be used for market research for acquisition teams and supply-chain management for logisticians, with the broader pitch being faster staff work, better continuity, and more secure collaboration.
