BREAKING: TGS, a global energy data company has signed a multi-year agreement with Speedcast to deploy a Starlink-led, all-LEO connectivity system across its global seismic fleet. Centered on Starlink Dedicated Service, the system can transfer up to 10 TB of data daily for near-real-time cloud processing. In testing, eight Starlink Performance kits reached peak upload speeds of 950 Mbps.

Starlink is pushing offshore connectivity to a completely different level TGS vessels used to transfer around 200 GB of seismic data per day With Starlink, that has jumped to as much as 10 TB per day Up to 50× more data moving off a ship while it is still at sea Starlink also delivered: • 30× lower latency • 15× faster uploads • Connectivity deep into Arctic waters Before, massive seismic datasets often had to be physically carried back to shore Now they can move directly into the cloud from the middle of the ocean, where engineers can analyze them almost immediately And think about where this goes beyond just energy exploration • Real-time seismic and ocean monitoring • Faster disaster response • Better offshore hazard detection • Potentially stronger earthquake early-warning infrastructure in remote regions The ability to move enormous amounts of sensor data instantly from places that were basically disconnected before can become incredibly important for the entire world Starlink is turning the middle of the ocean into part of the global data network
