Twitch and Amazon are being sued for using streamers’ content to train AI. A Connecticut streamer claims Twitch and Amazon used streams and videos to train Amazon’s AI models without creators’ consent or payment. Twitch’s Chief Product Officer Mike Minton said they avoided an opt-in approach because “If this was opt-in, nobody would opt in.” The suit alleges Twitch and Amazon breached agreements with creators and profited from their content without proper compensation.

Twitch has rolled out a new "feature" that trains Amazon's generative AI content models on its users' channels. The setting can be disabled, but it's turned on by default.
