Uber has been ordered to pay $40 million to the family of a 23-year-old woman who was struck and killed after her rideshare driver ordered her out of his car on the side of a California freeway. An arbitrator found the driver "needlessly placed" Emily Normandin-Parker and her friend in danger, saying he showed "far more worry for his new car than he did for his passengers."
