The Viral “Most Tragic Auto Mechanic” Case Main figure: Well-known auto-repair blogger “Long Ge Repairs Teslas” — head of Beijing Mange Dian Auto Repair. Plaintiffs: BYD, Seres, and XPeng Motors. What happened: The blogger is an auto mechanic with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and more than ten years of experience repairing new-energy vehicles. In his daily repair work and video sharing, he often promoted the idea of “repair instead of replace” and helping car owners save money. His videos frequently showed him dismantling and repairing the batteries, motors, and electronic control systems of domestically made electric vehicles. However, in early 2025, he revealed that he had been sued one after another by the three Chinese automakers mentioned above, with total claims reaching as high as 7 million yuan. The car companies argued that, in his repair videos, he had made factually unsupported derogatory statements, fabricated and spread false information, and thereby committed commercial disparagement and unfair competition. In May 2026, after the second-instance judgments, the blogger lost the cases. His accounts, including “Mange Dian New Energy,” were ordered to issue public apologies and eliminate the negative impact. As a result of the three lawsuits, he was ordered to pay more than 2.26 million yuan in total damages: 2 million yuan to BYD, 160,000 yuan to Seres, and 100,000 yuan to XPeng.@elonmusk
