Colombian born businessman Alex Saab, with close ties to Maduro pleads guilty. Saab was originally charged in 2019, arrested in 2020, then pardoned by Biden in 2023. Prosecutors kept pursuing a separate charge the narrow pardon didn't cover. The plea comes eight months after Maduro himself was captured in a January 2026 U.S. military raid and is now awaiting drug trial. Saab allegedly skimmed millions from food contractors while ordinary Venezuelans faced shortages.
