Troy Baker, the voice of Joel in The Last of Us and the Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins, once got fired from the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime because he couldn’t perform a 30-second evil laugh. In a recent interview with Party Chat, Baker explained that he auditioned to play Greed in the 2003 anime. His first line was a long, increasingly crazy laugh, and it went terribly. “We tried for about 15 to 20 minutes on that one ’cause every time I laughed, it was awful. It was kind of like when you let air out of a balloon… it was not good.” The director eventually asked him to leave the booth, and Baker was replaced by Chris Patton. Years later, Baker auditioned to play the Joker, a character famous for his laugh. He also got another chance to play Greed in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Mike McFarland, a voice actor from the English-dubbed versions of “One Piece” and “Dragon Ball Z,” has died following a battle with brain cancer. He was 56. McFarland was a voice-acting veteran, first playing Master Roshi and Yajirobe in “Dragon Ball” and “Dragon Ball Z” and Buggy the Clown in “One Piece.” His other roles include Jean Kirstein in “Attack on Titan,” Jean Havoc in “Fullmetal Alchemist” and Teppei Sugo in “Psycho-Pass.”
