GPT-6 Astra Is Seriously Underrated
I've been heavily testing GPT-6 Astra on X High today and honestly it's WAY better than most people think The problem is Most people haven't even experienced its full potential because it burns through usage limits so quickly
From my testing it's better than every Fable model and in some areas it even beats Opus 5.5 GPT-6 Astra is basically OpenAI's version of Fable but with an even higher ceiling
And if GPT-6.1 Astra really arrives next week with another significant improvement anthropic will fall behind if they don't release fable 5.5
GPT-6.1 Astra will surprise a LOT of people
I think it could make people feel the same way they felt when Opus 5.5 first dropped That model genuinely amazed people and reminded everyone what frontier AI models are capable of
OpenAI's models have been missing a taste and a certain level of intelligence creativity and that extra spark But from with Astra, it looks like OpenAI may have finally figured it out
They might have mastered the missing piece
GPT 6.1 Sol is such an annoying model.
Yes, it is quite capable and cheap.
But it's very lazy and needs to be pushed constantly.
Like I'm wondering whether I should not set up a local Qwen3.8 27B to just push it to work harder every time it stops a task.
GPT-6.1 Sol often requires more iterations compared to Opus 5.5, and coupled by the fact that it's much slower each turn, the total time it takes to do the same task might potentially be multiple times that of Opus 5.5.
The constant supervision required when using GPT-6.1 Sol also makes it less agentic relatively, and that cripples your ability to hand off / use it remotely.
So when factoring the time savings you get, it's no surprise that a lot of people choose to daily drive with Opus 5.5 much more than GPT-6.1 Sol.
GPU prices are going through the roof. Global prices have jumped around 35% in just three months.
- August: GPU prices rose 15%.
- September: Prices went up another 7%.
- October: Prices increased by a further 10%.
- RTX 5090: Prices jumped 32% in October alone.
- RTX 5080: Prices rose by an average of 22%.
-AMD and Intel: Their GPUs are getting more expensive too.
GPUs and memory prices are at ATH, and I don't see any reason for them to slow down anytime soon. Owning intelligence has become a high luxury.
Those who call AI a bubble really have no idea. The "bubble" will come at some point, but we're nowhere near there.
And all those anti AI people who are "sick of it" are going to be left behind and be sorry later that they missed the train.
You either join it, or others will beat you. SIMPLE.
Evolution at its best.
