Rewind to 1983 when keyboards were hand-assembled. At least, the original Bloomberg keyboards were. Known as “The Chiclet” for their colorful, candy-like keys, each required a special cable that ran from the user’s desk to the Bloomberg Controller in a separate equipment room.
