lately, it feels like people’s hearts keep getting a little colder. in all the rush, it starts to feel a little like winter. then i wondered. how do clothes actually keep us warm? they don’t create heat. they slow down the ways we lose it. conduction, when warmth moves into something colder we touch. convection, when moving air carries warmth away. radiation, when our bodies release heat into the space around us. evaporation, when moisture leaves the skin and takes heat with it. clothes slow those losses down, so the warmth already there can stay a little longer. they don’t create warmth. they protect what was already there. so... what does the heart wear? ˖⁺‧₊˚
