Steam wishlists are becoming less useful for predicting sales. A new analysis looked at 160 Steam games released between 2020 and 2025 and compared their wishlists with their sales. The results are pretty clear: >Games released between 2020 and 2022 had higher wishlist-to-sales conversion. >For games released between 2023 and 2025, the median conversion rate was roughly half as high after one and six months.

Anyone hiding malware in Steam games is cooked, Steam and the FBI are warning BlockBlasters players again. BlockBlasters was a Steam game that turned out to contain malware and was used in crypto-draining attacks, including one targeting a terminally ill cancer patient. The FBI says it arrested someone linked to the Steam malware campaign in July and is now asking victims who lost money or had their accounts compromised to fill out a survey for possible restitution. DroidDeck lets you play Steam games directly on your Android phone, without needing a PC to stream them. The app brings Steam to Android and lets you download and run compatible Windows games on your device, even has a Steam Deck-style interface DroidDeck uses Proton to run Windows games and FEX to make PC software work on supported Android hardware. It also supports features like upscaling and frame gen. In tests on a REDMAGIC 11 Pro, Cyberpunk 2077 ran at around 60 FPS, while Skyrim also reached around 60 FPS at 720p.

Valve’s Steam Controller now works better outside of Steam thanks to an SDL update. SDL, short for Simple DirectMedia Layer, is a popular game development library used by many PC games to handle controller input, audio, graphics, and compatibility across operating systems. The update lets developers add direct support for the Steam Controller in their games and apps without fully relying on Steam Input. This improves compatibility with non-Steam games, emulators, and other PC software. It also supports features like the controller’s touchpads, gyro controls, back buttons, triggers, and grip sensors, making it easier to use across platforms and launchers. For games that still lack full support, fan-made apps and community tools are available for button mapping and customization.

TeamUIX has fully reverse-engineered the original 2001 Xbox dashboard and turned it into a real PC application called UIX Desktop. It uses authentic Xbox code, so it is much more than just a visual theme or skin. The project, also known as Theseus, recreates the complete dashboard with all the classic animations, menus, and feel from the old console. >The app runs natively on Windows, Linux, and Mac. >You can manually add your Steam games with their setup tools and launch them straight from the old Xbox-style interface. >Xbox modders from TeamUIX have worked on this for around six years.
