9月9日にフィリピン共和国パラワン州で発生した旅客フェリーの火災事故において、多くの尊い命が失われたことに、深い悲しみを覚えております。 犠牲となられた方々に哀悼の誠を捧げるとともに、御遺族の皆様に謹んでお悔やみ申し上げます。 また、今なお行方不明の方々の一刻も早い捜索・救助がなされることを心より願っております。 I am deeply saddened by the loss of many precious lives caused by the passenger ferry fire accident occurred off the coast of Province of Palawan, the Republic of the Philippines, on September 9. I express my deepest condolences to those who lost their lives and offer my sincere sympathies to their families. I wish for the earliest possible search and rescue of those still missing.

ネパールの甚大な洪水被害に関して、犠牲になられた方々に改めて哀悼の誠を捧げるとともに、被害に遭われた皆様に対して心からお見舞いを申し上げます。 8月26日の発災以降、ネパール政府により捜索・救出作業が進んでいます。 連絡が取れていない邦人5名の捜索についても、ネパール政府に最大限の努力を依頼するとともに、日本政府としても全力で安否確認にあたっています。 行方不明者が無事に救出されますようにと、お祈りしています。 また、日本政府は、ネパール国政府からの要請を受け、緊急援助物資(テント、毛布等)を供与することを決定しました。 人道的観点及びネパールとの友好関係に鑑み、被災者の方々を支援すべく、我が国が海外に備蓄している援助物資を活用して緊急援助を行うこととしたものです。 今後も、同国のニーズに応じて必要な支援を検討してまいります。 日本はネパールと共にあります。 In response to the devastating damage caused by the flash flood in Nepal, I once again offer my heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives and extend my deepest sympathies to all those affected by the disaster. Since the disaster struck on 26 August, search and rescue operations have been underway under the leadership of the Government of Nepal. The Government of Japan has requested the Government of Nepal to make full efforts in the search for 5 Japanese nationals with whom contact has been lost while also continuing its utmost effort to confirm their safety. I sincerely pray for the safety of those who remain missing. The Government of Japan has also decided, upon the request of the Government of Nepal, to provide emergency relief goods (tents, blankets, etc.) to Nepal, based on humanitarian considerations and in light of the friendly relations between the two countries. This emergency assistance utilizes relief goods stored overseas to support the people affected by the flash flood. The Government of Japan will continue to consider providing necessary support in accordance with the needs of Nepal.
