A lot of people still think Zama is launching a new L2 — I actually thought the same at first. But Zama isn’t a new L1 or L2. It’s a cross-chain confidentiality layer built on top of existing blockchains. This means users don’t need to bridge anywhere. They can interact with confidential DApps directly from their current chain. The Zama protocol enables confidential asset issuance, management, and trading across existing public blockchains. At its core, the Zama protocol works like an execution engine behind the scenes — invisible on the front end, but powering everything underneath.
