🇺🇳 My first meeting during UN Week in New York was with UN General Assembly President Khalilur Rahman. We discussed a defining question for this session: how can the United Nations strengthen trust and meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world? I believe the answer is clear: stronger diplomacy, focused action and a renewed commitment to working together. At a time of uncertainty, the UN must be a place where dialogue opens doors, cooperation delivers results and shared principles become real progress. The world needs a United Nations that inspires trust — and turns hope into action.

Even during a busy UN week in New York, I was glad there was time to meet Slovaks who keep our language and traditions alive far from home. 🇸🇰🇺🇸 Teachers, graduates and young people from the Slovak community in Chicago told me about the work they do through their school, folklore groups and community life. What matters most is that children growing up in America do not know Slovakia only from family stories. They speak Slovak, learn our traditions and build their own connection to the country their parents and grandparents came from. Thank you for keeping that connection alive.

🇸🇰🇺🇳 Heading to New York for the 81st United Nations General Assembly. For Slovakia, this week is about more than speeches. It is about shaping solutions. We want a United Nations that delivers results, upholds international law, and gives smaller countries a meaningful voice. At a time of war, rising tensions, and declining trust in international institutions, diplomacy must remain active. The United Nations must demonstrate that it can still bring countries together, build consensus, and deliver tangible outcomes.

Next year, the Slovak Republic will commemorate a significant historical milestone—the centenary of the proclamation of Our Lady of Sorrows as the Patroness of our #nation#. 🇻🇦Your Holiness, it would be a profound honor for the Slovak Republic and its people to welcome Your Holiness to our country and to join with you in commemorating this historic anniversary, which unites our heritage with hope for future generations. With these sentiments, I today renewed, by letter, my invitation to the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, to undertake an Apostolic Visit to 🇸🇰Slovakia. @Pontifex
