Algorand is edging closer to its biggest upgrade yet
@Algorand heads towards the launch of consensus v5.0.0 as node support exceeds the 75% threshold, requiring a 90% majority to launch the network's biggest architectural revamp.
It adds native post-quantum (PQ) accounts based on Falcon-1024 signatures, providing resilience against PQ attacks directly within the protocol to address weaknesses in elliptic curve cryptography.
In addition, it marks a transition to a pay-by-use model, in which the transaction fee is set based on the content and data consumption.
It increases the smart contract size up to 16,384 bytes and enables mutable program sizes for the existing dApps without changing their Application IDs.
