Kaspa runs a blockDAG: blocks are made in parallel, and orphan blocks join the ledger instead of being dropped. The Crescendo hard fork took @kaspaunchained from 1 to 10 blocks per second in May 2025, a tenfold jump for $KAS. How the blockDAG works:

$KAS is available on ChangeNOW. @kaspaunchained is a fair-launched Proof-of-Work blockDAG cryptocurrency running at 10 blocks per second, built for real-time decentralization and high-throughput peer-to-peer payments. Swap $KAS on ChangeNOW:

Toccata hard fork brings programmable UTXOs to @kaspaunchained and native covenants and ZK verification to its Proof-of-Work BlockDAG. Our article covers what changed, what Argent adds for builders and how ChangeNOW supports $KAS. See what Toccata adds to Kaspa 👇

Can Proof of Work scale without losing its core principles? $KAS is taking a different approach with its blockDAG architecture. Unlike traditional blockchains, Kaspa is designed to process multiple blocks in parallel. Other projects worth comparing: 🟢 PoW security and a fair launch. 🔴 Adoption, ecosystem growth, and long-term miner incentives remain important challenges. My take: The technology is interesting. Now the ecosystem needs to prove its potential. Do you think PoW still has room to grow?

How has Kaspa evolved in 2026? Kaspa (@kaspaunchained) $KAS was created as a high-speed payments chain based on a blockDAG rather than a blockchain. However, in 2026, it progressed far beyond payments. (1) It became Layer-1 programmable. The Toccata hard fork on the mainnet on June 30, 2026, made this possible. It introduced covenants (programming conditions on UTXOs), transaction introspection, and a verification opcode for zero-knowledge proofs on Layer 1 (Groth16 on BN254 and RISC0 included). SilverScript is the suite used to write these covenants. This follows the Crescendo upgrade, which increased the network's throughput to up to 10 blocks per second. (2) It promoted the native fungible token standard. The KCC-20 (Kaspa Call for a Convention-20) establishes a common Layer 1 protocol for fungible tokens based on covenants. Ownership, balances, and transfers follow common rules that let wallets and applications communicate without needing custom code for every token. (3) Privacy research for native KAS achieved on testnet. Olaf Weller successfully implemented independent privacy research for native KAS called the Kaspa Privacy Initiative. It involved a proof of concept on testnet TN10 that showed how to perform Layer-1 ordering, generate zero-knowledge proofs, settle with proofs accepted by Kaspa nodes, reject invalid operations, and independently recreate the state with a native KAS withdrawal. (4) Application experiments started, involving memecoin development tools. Kasseal (Kaspaseal) plans to launch a KCC-20 memecoin launchpad on mainnet around October 23, 2026. Users can deploy tokens with a fixed supply from genesis, with on-chain covenants enforcing the rules. Token creators will receive a portion of fees charged on $KAS trades. Such testnet experiments are already underway (bonding curves, locked liquidity). They are built on the new covenant/token technology stack. Kaspa started in 2026 as a throughput-heavy PoW payments blockchain. It is now incorporating native covenants, a standardized token layer, early privacy research, and even on-chain launch tools, without transitioning to proof-of-stake or relying entirely on off-chain rollups. The true test will be whether any of this functionality drives continued development, adoption, and liquidity among actual users.

What Kaspa's Toccata fork actually unlocks The kaspa:native upgrade adds covenants, programmable rules attached directly to transactions, enabling vaults, escrow, and smart wallets without giving up proof-of-work or BlockDAG speed. KRC-20 tokens now live natively in consensus rules instead of inscription workarounds. New ZK opcodes let rollups and bridges anchor to Kaspa, with two EVM-compatible Layer 2s already building on top.

If you want a Solana comparison post in the newer style, I’d make it broader than just ETH: Every major L1 is solving a different problem. Which one has the strongest setup? $SOL — high-speed, single-chain execution $ETH — security, liquidity & modular scaling $SUI — object-centric architecture & parallel execution sei-network:native — high-performance trading & parallel execution $KAS Proof-of-Work + BlockDAG Solana’s edge is simple: Speed + low costs + a large ecosystem, all on one main chain. But the competition is getting serious. The next phase of crypto may not have one winner. It may have several chains built for different jobs. DYOR.

I will tighten the Kaspa pitch. Quickly check current facts so the rewrite stays accurate. What if proof-of-work did not have to be slow? That is the bet Kaspa (kaspa:native) is making. Classic PoW chains force miners onto one block at a time. When two honest blocks land together, one gets thrown away. Kaspa does not do that. Kaspa uses a BlockDAG and GHOSTDAG: parallel blocks stay in the ledger and are ordered. Extra work adds security instead of becoming orphans. Live today: - Proof-of-work (kHeavyHash) - ~10 blocks per second (~100 ms block times) - Fast inclusion, confirmation stacking in seconds - Fair launch in 2021: no ICO, no premine, no insider allocation PoW did not have to stay stuck at 10-minute blocks. Kaspa is what a chain looks like when the bottleneck is the chain structure, not the work itself. kaspa:native is one to watch.

How has Kaspa fared since the Toccata Upgrade? The Toccata protocol activated on Kaspa's (@kaspaunchained) mainnet without a hitch on June 30, 2026, bringing native L1 covenants, covenant IDs, ZK proof verifications, and sequencing facilities. While making the highly scalable PoW blockDAG network programmable, the upgrade left its UTXO architecture untouched. Activation had no issues because the hashrate was almost fully ready. - Kaspa continues operating stably at a throughput of 10 blocks per second. - Actual utilization rate is still low compared to the capacity, although covenants experienced fast growth, by more than 15 times during the first few weeks, with tokens, vaults, and experiments appearing on-chain. After a short price rally around the event date, the $KAS coin is now trading at about $0.025 with a market capitalization of about $700 million. The hashrate is lower than previous highs, driven by price pressure and reduced emissions.
