Following an investigation by FBI New York, @CivilRights, @NYPDnews, and @SDNYnews, Larry Montes was charged with two counts of committing hate crimes in connection with his race- and religious-based assaults during a Shabbat service at a synagogue in Manhattan on August 14, 2026, as well as one count of destruction of religious property resulting in bodily injury. ADIC Barnacle: “Larry Montes’ targeted acts of violence on a congregant, security guard, and synagogue during a Shabbat service are deeply disturbing. The FBI condemns any incident driven by bias or hate, and we commend the swift actions of the security personnel and first responders. San Jose treats the 2nd Amendment as a second-class right by charging $1,600 for a CCW permit, & requiring a psych exam. This is crazy! The 2A section at the @CivilRights Division will continue to take aim at states & cities restricting law-abiding Americans’ rights!

All eligible voters should have confidence in our elections. Every ineligible vote cast cancels the vote of an American. We are enforcing federal law @CivilRights Division & @theJusticeDept, nationwide!

A right delayed is a right denied. Minnesota cannot deny Americans the right to purchase commonly owned firearms with weeks-long waiting periods. The @CivilRights Division’s Second Amendment Section will challenge these violations of fundamental rights!

The @CityofSanJose thinks they can charge $1600 for concealed carry permits and violate their citizens’ 2A rights. Wrong! The @CivilRights Division @theJusticeDept will see you in court. 🤨
