For everyone asking, Harmeet explains why the OpenAI settlement was $3M - it is the amount capped in the law for damages. So our laws are bad and need to be fixed to protect American workers (you’re telling us!)
But it is still great to get a settlement that stops a major company from discriminating!

call, write, email your congressman to tell them YOU WILL VOTE based on whether they end OPT and H1B!
And if you don’t get hired for one of our collection of hundreds of PERM jobs, let the DOJ and EEOC know- they are fighting this battle with the tools they have!

Tech companies will tell you there aren’t enough qualified Americans to fill their specialized jobs. Yet when they’re required to test the labor market for an H-1B worker’s green card, they suddenly become remarkably creative about making sure Americans never apply.
OpenAI advertised tech jobs on a radio station and, should an American actually hear the ad, required resumes by snail mail.

🚨2A LAWSUIT🚨
The DOJ has filed a lawsuit against Montgomery County, Maryland for violating the Second Amendment by prohibiting law-abiding citizens from possessing firearms in daily life.
Bill 23-26 prohibits carrying firearms at thousands of locations, and also creates an arbitrary 100-yard exclusion zone around each location.
The law applies even if the person carrying a firearm is duly licensed and has the express consent of the property owner.

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division announced today that it has secured a combined $3,200,000 settlement with OpenAI OpCo LLC, a San Francisco, California-based artificial intelligence company, and its subsidiary, Statsig Inc., a Bellevue, Washington-based software development company (together, OpenAI).
“It is illegal to discriminate against U.S. workers by preferring temporary visa holders for jobs,” said @AAGDhillon. “This substantial settlement ensures that OpenAI redresses harm and changes its recruitment practices so that U.S. workers receive a fair opportunity for highly sought-after technology positions.”
