Discord’s second attempt at age verification is already having problems. Discord now estimates your age from things like account age, servers, communities and connected games and says it doesn’t use your messages or calls, and around 90% of users won’t need to verify manually. Some users are being put in the wrong age group, while others see different results on different devices. Discord was also cooked alive for making jokes about the bugs during the rollout. Rigney says the company has not yet been served with the subpoena from Take-Two. “I can share an update on this: Discord has not yet been served with a subpoena from Take Two. When we do, we’ll evaluate the validity and scope before responding.” So claims that Discord has already given Take-Two the leaker’s identity are not accurate.

Discord is also changing how the limit is checked on mobile. The file size will now be measured before compression, matching how the limit is already handled on desktop. That means the 20MB limit will be based on the original file size bot the smaller compressed version.
