🚨A magistrate judge just released the woman charged with defacing the World War II Memorial, and the man who swore him in has a long history of opposing Trump!! U.S. Magistrate Judge Matthew J. Sharbaugh ordered Melissa Farris released after she was charged with two federal felonies for spray-painting the World War II Memorial and dumping detergent into its fountain. Prosecutors argued she was a flight risk, citing searches for travel tickets and her lack of ties to the area. Thefar-left judge disagreed. Sharbaugh was sworn into his position in October 2024 by Chief Judge James E. Boasberg. Boasberg has repeatedly ruled against Trump administration immigration enforcement, including issuing orders blocking deportation flights under the Alien Enemies Act and finding probable cause for contempt against the government for proceeding with removals. Farris faces up to 10 years on each count. Releasing someone accused of desecrating a memorial to American war dead, while the chief judge who installed the magistrate has a clear pattern of obstructing Trump-era enforcement, raises legitimate questions about the culture inside the D.C. federal courts. #WWIIMemorial# #Justice#
