Very excited to share the first Always-On report we’ve published at Finchling 👇 We surveyed 119 PR professionals about how they monitor the news for work, and the effects it has on them: 😵‍💫 56% of PR professionals say news monitoring makes them feel overwhelmed, and 32% say it makes them feel stressed. 🌙 64% monitor the news outside working hours, either in the evenings or at weekends. And 89% check it before 9am. 👩‍💻 The pressure is even higher for junior PRs: 72% say news monitoring makes them feel overwhelmed. But perhaps the stat that struck me the most: 👉 Despite all of this monitoring, 64% of PRs find a story they can actually act on for a client or brand only once a week or less. That’s a LOT of news consumption for relatively few actionable opportunities. And this is ultimately the challenge we help solve with Finchling 😉 PR professionals obviously need to stay informed, but staying informed shouldn’t require going through hundreds or thousands of headlines, checking alerts at night or spending the weekend worrying that you might have missed the one story your brand should have reacted to.
