How much traffic Google AI Mode is referring to sites? @Similarweb reclassified its traffic from "Gen AI" to "Organic Search" on September 1st, and we can easily see how much Gen AI traffic drops on September 1st for any site. For many of the top sites of the web, also used as citation sources, such as YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, it has been a 60-70% drop in Gen AI traffic (which is still a fraction of organic search). If you have access to Similarweb, go and take a look ๐Ÿ˜‰

Case closed ๐Ÿซก youโ€™re welcome @dergal or should I say, Yerri Blanco? ๐Ÿ˜‚
@aleyda @dergal Yerri has a cool international flairโ€”like the Spanish remix of Gerry. Add Blanco and it becomes pure SEO style. Solid original name choice, I approve!

Very excited to share the first Always-On report weโ€™ve published at Finchling ๐Ÿ‘‡ We surveyed 119 PR professionals about how they monitor the news for work, and the effects it has on them: ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ 56% of PR professionals say news monitoring makes them feel overwhelmed, and 32% say it makes them feel stressed. ๐ŸŒ™ 64% monitor the news outside working hours, either in the evenings or at weekends. And 89% check it before 9am. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป The pressure is even higher for junior PRs: 72% say news monitoring makes them feel overwhelmed. But perhaps the stat that struck me the most: ๐Ÿ‘‰ Despite all of this monitoring, 64% of PRs find a story they can actually act on for a client or brand only once a week or less. Thatโ€™s a LOT of news consumption for relatively few actionable opportunities. And this is ultimately the challenge we help solve with Finchling ๐Ÿ˜‰ PR professionals obviously need to stay informed, but staying informed shouldnโ€™t require going through hundreds or thousands of headlines, checking alerts at night or spending the weekend worrying that you might have missed the one story your brand should have reacted to. There are many more interesting findings in the report, including thoughts of PR experts like: @ShannonMcGuirk_ @ilikeyoumatt @BrockbankJames @PRAndyBarr and more! Check it out:

๐Ÿ“Š More insights into ChatGPTโ€™s August citation shifts via @Similarweb ! We already knew about the Reddit and Wikipedia declines, but 1) Where did this citation share go and 2) Did the shift look the same across industries? Similarweb shared with me this additional analysis of US desktop data, comparing August vs July 2026 across all prompts, as well as Beauty, Finance, and Travel ones. A few findings that stood out: * Across all 4 segments, Social Media, Reference Materials, and News & Media were the biggest 3 declines. This includes Reddit and Wikipedia. * For the 3 industry segments, the biggest increases were often in category relevant site types. E.g. Travel prompts saw Travel sites become a lot more frequently cited. This means brands in that category have a bigger chance of being cited * Citations are no longer dominated by a few UGC sites and moving towards category specific sites Take a look at the data here ๐Ÿ‘‡ Thanks so much, @AdelleKehoe for the insights ๐Ÿ™Œ
