Hubei, dubbed "the province of a thousand of lakes" in China, has done a lot of work in the comprehensive management of its rivers and lakes, in an effort to improve its water ecology and water environment. The province saw the proportion of monitored surface-water sections rated as good quality reach 95.1% in 2025, up 1.2 percentage points from 2024, official data showed.

✨🇨🇳In Xiangyang, Hubei, a 2004-born police trainee helped an elderly woman recover her lost mobile phone. To express her thanks, the woman, along with a group of community volunteers, marched to the police station with gongs, drums, and a large silk banner. During the ceremony, the woman playfully asked the young officer if he had a girlfriend and offered to introduce him to someone, making everyone laugh. The warm interaction shows the close bond between the police and the public in China.

Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, is hosting the "2026 Global Mayors Dialogue – Wuhan" from Sept. 18 to 21, themed "River City: Shared Resonance, Shared Growth," alongside the 2026 Wuhan International Friendship Cities Cooperation Conference. More than 80 foreign representatives, including mayors, vice mayors and city delegates from 24 cities in 22 countries, as well as representatives of two international organizations, have gathered along the Yangtze River for the four-day event. Around 200 Chinese and international guests are expected to participate in the program.
