June 19, the Ministry of Commerce of the People‘s Republic of China released a reminder on implementation of beef protection measures for 2026 (5):
Under beef protection measures, beef imports from Australia have reached 100% of the country‘s specified quantities on June 18, 2026, as specified in the Ministry of Commerce of the People‘s Republic of China’s announcement No. 87, 2025. According to the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China‘s announcement No. 87, from the third day when Australian beef imports reach 100% of the specified quantities (from midnight on June 20), beef imports from the country will be subject to a 55% tariff on the basis of the current applicable tariff rates.
