Zion Church Prayer Letter (ZCPL 2026.06.19) Dear families in Christ and friends from all walks of life, peace be with you! It has been 253 days since the “October 9” Zion crackdown outbroke. For Zion Church under ongoing persecution, these days and nights have been a wilderness journey—filled with tears and perils, yet also abounding in grace and providence. We sincerely thank you for your attention, prayers, solidarity, and support as you stand with us and journey alongside us. We hereby provide the latest updates on the case and the corresponding prayer requests. I. Case Updates On November 18, 2025, the Yinhai Branch of the Beihai Public Security Bureau formally arrested 18 Zion pastors and co-workers on charges of “suspected illegal use of information networks.” As of June 18, 2026, the police’s criminal investigation—following three previous extensions—has reached the maximum seven-month limit for pre-trial detention in major cases. On June 18, 2026, nine of the detained brothers and sisters were released on bail pending trial. They include Pastor Sun Cong, Brother Liu Jiang, Sister Li Shengjuan, Sister Wei Yunfei, Sister An Mei, Sister Zhan Ge, Sister Hu Yanzi, Sister Mei, and Sister Zhu Mingli. We are filled with joy and gratitude for this. In Beihai, some family members and church members warmly welcomed these nine brothers and sisters with flowers and embraces after their long separation. However, the situation is bittersweet, as the remaining nine church leaders have been—or are about to be—transferred to the procuratorate and face prosecution. They include Pastor Jin Mingri (Ezra), Pastor Wang Lin (Franklin), Pastor Gao Yingjia (Joshua), Pastor Yin Huibin, Pastor Liu Zhenbin, Pastor Lin Shucheng, Pastor Wang Cong (female), Elder Wang Zhong, and Sister Wu Qiuyu (Chloe). Based on the limited information currently available to us, the initial criminal charges of “illegal use of information networks” have been changed to “illegal business operations” and “fraud.” The specific charges upon which the individuals will ultimately be prosecuted remain to be verified and confirmed after their lawyers have reviewed the case files from the procuratorate. II. Prayer Requests 1. Please give thanks and pray for the nine brothers and sisters who have been released on bail pending trial: We thank and praise the Lord for graciously releasing these nine brothers and sisters, allowing them to finally reunite with the family members and fellow believers they have so deeply longed to see. All nine are currently in good spirits and filled with joy. Please pray for the gradual restoration of their physical and mental health, families, daily lives, and ministries. May the Lord provide—through the church community—the financial, emotional, and spiritual support they need. May the Lord strengthen them as they live under the restrictions of bail, empowering them to continue testifying and living out the true freedom in Christ that no one can take away. 2. Please pray for the nine pastors, leaders, and co-workers facing prosecution, as well as their families: May the Lord continue to protect their bodies, souls, and spirits, and—in His perfect timing—bring about the complete release of His servants. May the Lord watch over their families, comforting them in their sense of loss and pain, and strengthening their faith and hope. Please offer special thanksgiving and prayer for two families who welcomed new life on the 4th of this month: Pastor Ezra’s daughter, Grace, gave birth to a son (who shares the name Ezra with his grandfather), and Pastor Lin Shucheng’s family welcomed a daughter. May these gifts, bestowed by the Lord amidst suffering, serve as a testimony to the Gospel: through persecution and tribulation, the church is sharing in the Messiah’s birth pangs and bringing forth new, eternal lives. 3. Please pray regarding the procuratorate’s subsequent review and prosecution process: Please pray for the People’s Procuratorate of Yinhai District, Beihai City—which is handling this case—as well as the Chief Procurator and the officials involved. Ask the Lord to open their eyes so they may clearly see that “Zion Bible Institute” is by no means an “illegal business operation,” and that Zion Church’s “offerings” are certainly not commercial “fraud.” We earnestly pray and publicly call upon the procuratorial authorities to respect the facts, drop the baseless charges of “illegal business operations” and “fraud” against Pastor Jin and eight other church leaders in accordance with the law, decide not to prosecute, and immediately release all those currently detained. In doing so, they would uphold the judicial mandate of objectivity, fairness, punishing evil, and rewarding good, while safeguarding the constitutional right of citizens to freedom of belief. 4. Please pray for the legal team’s ongoing defense: Should the prosecution proceed with formal charges, we ask the Lord to grant the lawyers courage, wisdom, strategy, and eloquence as they conduct the defense in accordance with the law. May the Lord protect the legal team, ensuring they are granted access to all case files, can make thorough pre-trial preparations, and formulate sound courtroom defense strategies. May the Lord provide all necessary resources and funding for the subsequent legal work and keep the Christian lawyers and their families safe and secure. May the Lord use the testimonies and arguments presented by the pastors and lawyers in court to offer a public and righteous defense of the truth of the Gospel. 5. Please pray for the ongoing pastoral ministry of Zion Church: May our Lord Jesus Christ—the Great Shepherd who died, rose again, and sits upon the throne—continue to lead and shepherd His own church. We ask the Lord to strengthen Zion pastors and congregants everywhere, that they may not cast away their confidence (Hebrews 10:35), but strive to maintain the unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4:3), practice love for one another (John 13:35), and remain full of hope for the future—hope not only for the return of the nine Zion pastoral leaders but also for the return of Christ and the making of all things new (Revelation 21:5), as all nations join hands to return to Zion (Isaiah 2:2)! BILL GATES WHERE THE ART THOU?! I hope you're watching the Tesla Semi event tonight... Tesla opens the Semi factory tonight at 6pm PT, live on 𝕏. In 2020 Bill wrote that an electric 18-wheeler would probably NEVER work. "The problem is that batteries are big and heavy. The more weight you're trying to move, the more batteries you need to power the vehicle. But the more batteries you use, the more weight you add, and the more power you need. Even with big breakthroughs in battery technology, electric vehicles will probably NEVER be a practical solution for things like 18-wheelers. Electricity works when you need to cover short distances, but we need a different solution for heavy, long-haul vehicles." BTW, he also bet against the company... he shorted $TSLA. In 2022 Elon texted him and asked if he still had a $ half-billion-dollar short position against Tesla. And he did. On December 17, 2025, Elon said that short was about 1% of Tesla's shares, and that it might have cost Gates over $10 billion by now. Elon even once said Gates told him in person, at Giga Texas, that a long-range Semi was impossible. The Tesla team has been grinding over the years as people gave up on the Tesla Semi program... every year it slipped, more of them walked away. In The Master Plan, Elon wrote the goal down on July 20, 2016... Tesla was NOT going to stop at cars. Heavy trucks had to go electric too, bc that is where a ton of the fuel actually gets burned. The team showed the Semi on November 16, 2017 and PepsiCo took the first ones in December 2022, hauling real freight with them ever since. And tonight they are opening the factory. The building is 1.7 million square feet, next to Gigafactory Nevada. Tesla sized it for up to produce 50,000 Semis a year. And Dan Priestley has said there will be many thousands by the end of 2026. So here are the facts. 1/ Standard Range is about 325 miles. Long Range is about 500. Both of those are at a full 82,000 lb load. 2/ It uses about 1.7 kWh per mile. A diesel Class 8 usually gets around 6 to 7 miles per gallon. A gallon of diesel holds about 38 kWh of energy. At 7 mpg that is a little over 5 kWh of fuel burned every mile. The Semi uses 1.7. The diesel is burning about 3 times the energy to move the same freight. 3/ The long range truck can take up to 1.2 megawatts. Tesla says about 60% of the battery comes back in 30 minutes. That is a driver’s required break, and on the 500-mile truck it is on the order of 300 miles. There is also a 25 kW outlet on the truck, so a refrigerated trailer can run off the battery. 4/ After the driver, fuel is one of the biggest bills a fleet has. $4 diesel at 7 mpg is about 57 cents a mile. Electricity at 15 cents a kWh and 1.7 kWh a mile is about 26 cents a mile. The direction is a lot less $ money per mile, and the price of electricity does not swing around the way diesel does. You also drop the oil changes, the diesel exhaust fluid, and the emissions equipment that keeps parking diesel trucks in the shop. Regenerative breaking slows the truck down, so the brakes last longer. It's clearly a financially better decision for businesses. 5/ Medium and heavy trucks were 23% of US transportation emissions. Transportation was the largest source of America’s direct emissions. These trucks are a small share of the vehicles, yet a huge share of the fuel. Take one diesel doing 100,000 miles a year at 7 mpg. That is about 14,300 gallons. The EPA puts about 22.5 pounds of CO2 in a gallon of diesel. Call it 145 metric tons a year, out of one tailpipe. The Tesla Semi also has no tailpipe, no diesel soot, no NOx on the street next to the warehouse, the port, or the school by the highway. A diesel is stuck burning diesel for the rest of its life. 6/ 800 kW is about 1,070 horsepower, from three motors. A lot of diesel tractors are 400 to 600 horsepower, and a full trailer makes them crawl on a grade while cars stack up behind. The Tesla Semi has the power to keep its speed. Tesla says those three motors can also catch a jackknife. The battery sits low, which makes the truck harder to roll. And Tesla Semis are designed for autonomy. 7/ PepsiCo has been running Semis since December 2022. Einride ordered 500, starting this month, across California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, and Georgia, including Amazon freight. This week ZET SCALE, a shipper group with Microsoft and PepsiCo in it, picked Tesla as the primary truck for a program of up to 2,500 electric Class 8 trucks. Tesla’s own account said 2,500 Semis. Kenworth, Volvo, and RIDE are also named in that deal, so the split is one of the things to listen for tonight. IMC ordered 50 for California port runs. DHL and ABF already bought after real pilots. Semis spotted at the factory today already had customer logos on them - PepsiCo, US Foods, DHL, Einride, ABF, IMC, WattEV, OK Produce, and more. So Bill, I hope you’re watching tonight. The truck you said would probably NEVER work is now getting its own 1.7-million-square-foot factory ready to be built at scale. The debate over whether an electric 18-wheeler can exist is over. Now the question is how big this gets. And knowing Tesla, the Semi we see today is probably only the beginning.

1/ On p (doom) tl;dr a) Everyone is making up the numbers b) nobody knows anything (least of all the experts), c) don't worry about it d) there is nothing you can do to stop it e) most things you can do if you "worry" will end up being deeply counter-productive to your own interests f) on the margin, there are a couple of things you may consider 2/ p (doom) is the probability that the AGIs/ASIs kill us all People in the AI space have a lot of estimates about this, ranging from very low to absolute certainty that it is going to happen. You see them quoted in the news like this "Famed AI safety researcher / economist thinks that there is a 33% we are going to die but a 66% chance we will live in luxury techno-communism" 3/ I am here to reassure you that the number is definitely between 0% and 100% but other than that, all the other numbers are completely made up. 4/ True ASI is a gap in intelligence relative to us that is larger than you have from your favorite pet. Your pet may love you, may cuddle with you, may have some type of understanding that you are their "human" but has no useful views on LLMs or NFTs 5/ Likewise, if ASI is real which is what all these p (doom) scenarios assume, then a human economist's assessment (circa 2026) of p(doom) is about as useful as your cat's view on how Saylor is going to wiggle himself out of his empire of vibe-coded financial instruments. If your analyst insists otherwise, you can just tell them "well, it seems like you are not a true believer in ASI, if you think you can model an uber-intelligence of 600 IQ with your puny 140 IQ" 6/ Separately, people have estimates about which models may be dangerous to bring into the world. This is actually more useful because it allows you to see how well predictions age. Famously, Dario thought GPT-2 was "too dangerous" to release to the world and the OpenAI Board got all worked about the safety of GPT-4 class models and fired/unfired Sam broadly, putatively for that reason. I have no doubt these are all very smart people who know a lot about AI and mean very well, but obviously in retrospect that idea that GPT-2 and GPT-4 were some super danger to the world was, well, "extremely not true" 7/ Again, this is not a criticism. I sympathize with the people who are ushering in perhaps the most important technology in human history. It is a large responsibility, obviously risk is not zero, and they are naturally at some level worried at a personal, human level about the consequences if things go wrong. I am not sure I would want that level of responsibility. And because they are mathematically oriented people, one way to deal with this anxiety is to try to tame it with numbers and formulas. It is a math whiz's way to get comfortable with uncertainty, a form of coping mechanism. It is fine, just don't take any of the specifics seriously. 8/ I have been very tech-forward in general for a long time, I use $50K of inference each month and so naturally people ask me about AI. Mostly they ask me "6529, aren't you worried?" My answer is: "and what good would it do if I was worried?" Will Xi get a report that I am not sleeping so well in my (air-conditioned, thank you very much) southern European bedroom and change China's industrial strategy? Will Elon notice that I am stressed and cancel the data centers in space? No, none of this will happen. All that will happen is that I will be less happy, less productive and less of a contributor to my friends, family and society at large. 8/ This is the most important societal technology in human history, for both economic and military purposes. Nobody is going to stop working on it, nobody can risk stopping unilaterally and the dynamics of testing/verifying make it hard / impossible to enforce a global ban. 9/ If you get worried, you will do many things that are counter-productive to your own interests, such as: a) lobbying against data centers in your country b) lobbying for regulations to limit AI in your country c) not using AI yourself in your life 10/ By analogy, will be doing the following: It is 1850, some European has shown up in your country with a gun and you are still at the "bow and arrow" stage of military technology. You naturally get alarmed by guns (they suck and are scary) and decide to: a) ban production of guns in your country, b) ban Europeans from selling you guns and c) ban yourself from learning how to use a gun. 11/ Obviously all of this is deeply against your interests, but very welcome by the European with a gun. I remember when GPT-4 came out and the Italian regulator threatened to ban OpenAI from selling it in Italy. And all I could think was "FFS, your real risk is that the US government will ban OpenAI from selling you GPT 8; you should be lobbying for an access agreement, not a banning agreement" Turns out I was wrong and this has happened with GPT 5.6 12/ If you think that ASI/AGI is scary (like guns) and your geopolitical opponents have ASI/AGI, I regret to inform you that the correct move is to learn as quickly as possible how to use, deploy and ideally make your own ASI (the latter now out of reach for most countries) 13/ "6529, this is defeatist, if the people just unite, we will elect officials that will put ASI in a proper regulatory framework" Yes, we will build on humanity's long-standing success in getting everyone to turn in their knives, guns, tanks, fighter jets, ballistic missiles, drones and nuclear weapons to the 3rd grade schoolteacher by recess. You go ahead and let the Pentagon and PLA to turn in their AIs 14/ Also, since we mentioned regulation, your cat and your dog and your goldfish are pleased to inform you that they have developed a new regulatory framework for DeFi and look forward to Uniswap coming under their control and jurisdiction 15/ "Wait, do you think there should be no regulations on AI" - no, I have no doubt the Pentagon and NSA will have plenty of discussions with the frontier model providers on a variety of topics above my pay grade. What I am saying is that you specifically are unlikely to have the security clearance to productively contribute to those discussions, unless that you are currently involved in fighting nuclear proliferation and bioweapons. 16/ What I mean is this: I see that >50% of people in Europe and some very large % elsewhere are going to read these p (doom) type essays and also a bunch of gross mathematical errors about how much water data centers use or whatever and conclude that they specifically should not use AI and they should discourage their co-citizens from doing the same Which is very counter productive for them and the organizations they work for and their countries and will do literally absolutely nothing to change p (doom). 16/ You see, I don't know what p (doom) is but I can tell you what p (someone-is-going-to-compete-with-you-with-AI) is and that p is 100%. That someone may be a personal "competitor" or a "company" or a "nation-state" 17/ As with all major technology change (and if ASI is real, this is the biggest one of all), going early may be a big win, going fast follower may be ok and going late could lead to "extinction" History has not been kind to companies or countries that "missed" an industrial revolution. The EU has missed the internet altogether and is no longer a techno-economic peer to the United States. 18/ If the hard case, the doomer case of ASI is real, then no non-ASI-enabled organizations and societies will survive. It is impossible to compete without ASI with a competitor with ASI. You have to have your own and you have to believe in a world of balance of power. Should ASI be real, one sole ASI is extraordinarily dangerous to the world. A vast bazaar of ASIs may possibly generate some balance of power. 19/ We will find all this out in time, but in any case, it is hard to imagine that it is "your" personal / corporate / national interest to be the one without AI capabilities in that world. The very best case is that you will be a charity case in that world of gods-on-earth. The worst case is you will get a sympathetic paragraph in the future history books about how it was not very neighborly when the drone swarm disabled your national infrastructure and you had to accept very unpleasant terms to keep the lights on. 20/ I think my view is probably closest to OpenAI's view if I had to pick - that models should be deployed and diffused often, giving society the change to absorb change incrementally and as broadly as possible. And the open-source models are a good check on the ecoysystem. 21/ So, what can you do personally? Two things: a) Learn and use, as discussed above. It can only help you personally, there is no chance it will hurt you personally b) the number #1# medium-term risk from AGI/ASI is an engineered respiratory virus. that is this weekend's thread. hardening your life systems for that scenario is probably helpful on the margin 22/ tl;dr we are going to live the most interesting time in human history together, it is going to be a wild ride, it is better to be a proactive participant, and given all the above, you might as well decide to enjoy the ride 🫡😀
