$LLY - LLY BREAKS GROUND ON $6.5B HOUSTON PLANT TO MAKE ORAL GLP-1 DRUG FOUNDaYO: Eli Lilly has started construction on a roughly 1M-square-foot manufacturing site in Houston, its 10th U.S. manufacturing site announced since 2020. The facility will produce active pharmaceutical ingredients for Foundayo, Lilly’s FDA-approved oral GLP-1 weight-loss pill, along with other small-molecule and advanced medicines. Lilly expects the site to create 615 permanent jobs and about 4,000 construction jobs, with build-out taking roughly five years. The plant is part of Lilly’s broader $50B U.S. manufacturing investment program.
