The Karolina-Burger-Realschule Plus school in Ludwigshafen, Germany, where around 90% of students have a migration background, is facing an extraordinary crisis after years of violence, vandalism, threats and repeated emergency-service deployments. It has been dubbed ‘Germany’s most dangerous school’ by BILD. Police records show 121 police deployments between 2022 and 2024. In one of the most serious cases, prosecutors reveal that a 16-year-old female student entered the teachers' room with a knife and attacked a teacher. Police have maintained a regular presence at the school for weeks, but teachers say violence, vandalism and threats continue. This month, 17 of the school’s 54 teachers, nearly one-third, were off sick, with several refusing to return until authorities provided meaningful support.
