The new rules set the framework for how federal student loans can be repaid following the passage of historic legislation by congressional Republicans and President Donald Trump last year that will fundamentally reshape how borrowers repay their student loans. But buried in the new regulations is a significant change that may ultimately impose major costs on borrowers by limiting their ability to receive credit toward student loan forgiveness when changing their repayment plan. Sweden has approved a new law allowing police to use AI-powered facial recognition in real time for serious crimes. The government aims to tackle rising gang violence and organized crime by providing police with faster, more advanced tools. Under the new rules, the Swedish Police Authority can use AI facial recognition to: >Find victims of kidnapping, trafficking, or exploitation >Prevent imminent serious violent crimes >Identify suspects in crimes punishable by at least four years in prison >Locate convicted criminals evading sentences Police normally need approval from a prosecutor or court, though emergency use is allowed first.

Europe is preparing new rules that would limit Microsoft, Amazon, and Google from handling certain sensitive government data in the public sector. Under the upcoming Tech Sovereignty Package, EU member states would be required to use “sovereign cloud infrastructure” for the highest-sensitivity categories: health records, financial data, and judicial or legal documents. Private companies and non-sensitive government workloads can continue using Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud. The restrictions apply only to public-sector handling of the most critical data. The main reason is long-standing concern over the U.S. CLOUD Act, which allows American authorities to compel U.S. companies to turn over data even data stored in Europe. European officials see this as a risk to strategic autonomy and data control. The move builds on years of EU efforts around digital sovereignty, including the EU Cybersecurity Certification Scheme for Cloud Services. It aims to reduce dependence on non-European technology for critical public infrastructure. Implementation would still require approval from EU member states and is likely to involve hybrid models with greater European oversight or local partners. Details may evolve when the full proposal is released later this month.

The UK government is considering new rules on social media for children under 16. Some people in the House of Lords want a strict ban, saying it should start in 12 months, but the government wants more time and could take up to 3 years. Australia introduced a ban for under-16s in December 2025, but it has not worked well. Surveys show more than 60% of teens aged 12 to 15 still use the main platforms. A full ban would require age checks and ID verification for everyone online, and we know how many data breaches occur these days. As I always said parental controls are a better way, the tools let parents set time limits, block certain apps or features and control children's activities.

INSIGHT: Allegra explains X's new rules for Revenue Share: You will not be monetized if you repost videos originally from other creators. Quote-posts can still be monetized if they add meaningful commentary.

Important clarification: the account that posted the “original video” on X is not the original creator or owner of that content, Anastasia is. The account you’re calling the “original” post is itself another aggregator that reposted someone else’s content as their own. So to be very clear: neither Mario nor Context2x created or own this video, and neither should or will earn Revenue Share for it. Being the first account to repost someone else’s content on X does not make that account the original creator. Accounts are still free to post content they didn’t create, and can monetize that in other ways if they want to. But Revenue Sharing is specifically designed to reward original, value-add content, content that gives people a reason to follow an account and keep coming back because they expect something unique from that creator, not recycled IP.

Arc System Works creators ofGuilty Gear Strive just added two new rules to protect their workers from bad online behavior: the Customer Harassment Response Policy and the Social Media Policy. These rules started because of strong anger from players. In the April 2.00 game update, there was a problem with the character Happy Chaos Some went too far and made personal attacks on the developers. The company says honest feedback is fine, but it is not okay to threaten, insult, intimidate, or harm workers in any way. If someone breaks these rules, Arc System Works can suspend the player’s game account, report them on social media platforms, or in serious cases take legal action or call the police to keep their staff safe.
