Canada’s Big Six Banks Take Tokenized Deposits to the Next Stage Canada’s six largest banks are jointly exploring a Canadian dollar tokenized deposit system. The project aims to move tokenized deposits efficiently across participating financial institutions. The banks say it could enable faster, more efficient, and programmable payments. This initiative follows Canadian regulators' recent clarification that tokenized deposits remain traditional deposits legally. The participating banks include RBC, TD, BMO, CIBC, Scotiabank, and National Bank.
