Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 update has caused several problems for some users. Reports show it can affect the Recycle Bin, OneDrive, and overall system stability. One issue changes the file name shown when permanently deleting items from the Recycle Bin. The files still delete correctly, but the wrong name may appear in the confirmation message. Some users report that OneDrive folders no longer open properly from File Explorer. Similar problems have occurred with other cloud storage services. In most cases, the files remain accessible via local folders or the web. Reports also include crashes, slow performance, update failures, and boot problems on some computers.

Microsoft is phasing out SMS text codes for logging into and recovering personal Microsoft accounts. This targets personal accounts used for services like Xbox, Windows, Outlook, OneDrive, and more. It does not currently apply to work or school accounts. The company states that SMS-based authentication has become a leading source of fraud, mainly through SIM-swapping attacks and mobile network breaches Instead of SMS codes, users should set up: >Passkeys: These use your device’s built-in biometrics for one-tap sign-ins. >Verified backup email >Microsoft Authenticator app. During sign-in, Microsoft will prompt users to “Sign in faster” and create a passkey.

You can spend months building out your Hermes profiles. But if something unexpected happens to your environment, are you actually protected? A bad update, corrupted state, drive failure, or a broken setup can turn all that accumulated work into a recovery problem fast. Memory. Sessions. Skills. Automations. Configs. All the little things that make your setup yours. Backing it all up takes one command: `hermes backup` That creates a full Hermes backup you can restore later with `hermes import`. But I wouldn’t stop at running it once. Automate it. Hermes supports recurring no-agent cron jobs, which means you can have Hermes run a backup script for you on a schedule without firing up an LLM or using model tokens. Hermes can literally back up Hermes. Then get at least one copy off the machine running it. That could be: • Google Drive or OneDrive • Another PC, NAS, or external storage • Cloudflare R2 or similar object storage • An encrypted cloud destination through something like rclone And yes, GitHub can have a place here too, just not the way you might first think. I’d use a private repo for versioning the rebuildable parts of a profile like your SOUL, skills, scripts, and sanitized configs. I would not dump raw full Hermes backup ZIPs into GitHub. Full backups can contain things like `.env`, `auth.json`, sessions, memory, and other private state. Treat those archives like sensitive data. Hermes also supports backup retention with: `hermes backup --keep N` So you can automate the process without letting old backups pile up forever. The exact place you store them matters less than the habit: Make the backup automatic. Keep at least one copy somewhere other than the machine running Hermes. You’ve probably put way too much work into your agents to rebuild all of it from scratch.

Hackers are now using passkeys as bait to target Microsoft 365 accounts. The scam is pretty simple: >Attackers pretend to be IT support and tell employees they need to set up or update a passkey. >They then send them to a fake Microsoft login page. >The page looks legitimate, but it’s actually designed to trick people into giving the attackers access to their account. >Once they get in, hackers can add their own way to log in and keep access searching through emails, SharePoint and OneDrive files and steal sensitive company data.
